India and Belarus are set to sign an extradition treaty during the visit of President Aleksandr Lukashenko in New Delhi beginning Sunday.

The cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday approved the signing of the treaty which will provide for transfer of fugitives, including economic offenders.

The salient features of the treaty include provisional arrest and obligation to extradite, said Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, while speaking to reporters.
