India claimed the overall honours in the drawn 1-1 Test series against Australia with their players finishing atop both the batting and bowling averages list.
India's Rahul Dravid emerged as the most successful batsman with a staggering average 123.80 (619 runs) while Anil Kumble took the bowling honours with 24 wickets.
The leg-spinner's haul in the high-scoring series came at a fine average of 29.58, which was much better than Australia's best bowler Jason Gillespie - 10 wickets at 37.70. Australia's major consolation in the series was Ricky Ponting's sublime showings with the bat - 706 runs at 100.85. Ponting's total was the highest by any batsman on either side.
He Australian middle-order batman's knock included a career-high 257 scored in the Melbourne Test.
Indian batsmen dominated the series with seven centuries including double centuries by Dravid (233) and Sachin Tendulkar (241 not out). V V S Laxman led the Indian century makers' list with two tons. Virender Sehwag and skipper Sourav Ganguly also hit a hundred each.
Australian batsmen, on ?he other hand, scored six centuries among them with Ponting and Justin Langer scoring two each. Matthew Hayden and Simon Katich scored one apiece.
In bow?ing, Kumble dominated with three five wickets hauls including an 8 for 141 in the final Test at Sydney. Ajit Agarkar, second leading wicket taker in the series with 16 scalps, and Zaheer Khan had a five-wicket haul once each.
