Zaheer Khan, who strained his hamstring while bowling in the match against South Africa on Sunday, will miss out and could even be rested for the last league game against South Africa on Friday.

Zaheer bowled only 4.5 overs in India's 153-run win over South Africa and had to leave the field due to the strain. Skipper Sourav Ganguly filled in the slot and returned figures of two for 30.

In absence of physiotherapist Andrew Leipus, Zaheer is being looked after by trainer Adrian le Roux. Team management feels Zaheer can do with some rest. With India on a roll, having won the first two games easily, they want the strike bowler to be completely fit for the final.

Le Roux and Zaheer visited Bangladesh's Australian physio John Gloster on Monday morning. Gloster informed the player that his injury wasn't serious.

The physio will conduct a thorough check-up after taking permission from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials. Aavishkar Salvi is certain to replace Zaheer, and should open the attack with Ajit Agarkar.

The Indians skipped practice on Monday, preferring to go shopping instead. Off-spinner Sarandeep Singh, however, chose to train with coach John Wright in the morning. In case Harbhajan too wants a rest, Sarandeep should get a game.
