It was test flown from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur-on-sea, 230 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, the sources said.

The trial was undertaken with an improved engine and other sub-systems developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to test out their parameters, the sources added.

Lakshya is a subsonic, reusable aerial target system that is remote-controlled from the ground and designed to train both airborne and air defence personnel in weapon's engagement.
