India to have 3 new contraceptives

HLL introduces a vibrating ring plus a condom, a 3-in-1 dotted ribbed condom and an injectable contraceptive.

Hindustan Latex Ltd (HLL), the largest condom manufacturing unit in the country, is all set to launch three new contraceptives.

"It includes a vibrating ring plus a condom, a three-in-one dotted ribbed condom and an injectable contraceptive for women," HLL chairman cum managing director M Ayyappan said on Friday.

Initially all these products would be imported and depending on the demand HLL would produce them.

"The injectable contraceptive is an injection and would cost Rs 125 and for three months the women is safe. We are importing that from South Africa," he said.

He said the response to the female condom that is presently marketed by them in Bangalore is encouraging and they propose to market it in other areas.
