The flavour will be distinctly Indian as one of Germany's oldest opera houses will resonate with a cultural extravanganza showcasing the music and dance of the country at the inaugural of the Frankfurt Book Festival in October.
The opening of the book festival, where India is the Guest of Honour Country this year, will see drummers from Kerala presenting the traditional taalavadyam using Chenda, Timila and other percussion instruments, while a conch will be blown at the start of the 120-minute concert to herald the event begininng on October 3.
Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh will be leading the Indian delegation at the October 3-8 book fair.
The concert, conceived by art critic Sadanand Menon, singer Madan Gopal Singh and theatre personality Bansi Kaul and named Dhwani -- The Resonance of India, will be a musical journey through Indian music and dance from its early origins , showcasing Buddhist chantings, Sufi, classical and folk music.
