India and the US will hold talks on Wednesday amid indications that both sides are ready to show flexibility.
Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran will hold the third round of talks with US Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns to iron out the differences.
They will also fine-tune the agreement on which the Americans said that 90 per cent of negotiations have been completed.
The negotiations had developed "difficulties" over the issue of separation, with the US insisting that India put more reactors, than it was ready in the civilian side. These included the homegrown fast breeder reactors (FBRs), a move opposed by New Delhi.
The two sides are now understood to have expressed readiness to show flexibility on their respective positions.
India on its part is believed to have agreed to put at least half of 22 nuclear reactors in the civilian side while the US is understood to have accepted to leave FBRs out of the loop for next seven years.
Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma said both the countries are "mindful" of their positions.
"We will be happy if this agreement is reached. Both sides are talking," he said, adding, however, no timeframe had been put on concluding the July 18 deal.
