The Indian football team is expected to qualify for the World Cup after about ten years, Jita Singh, grass root and youth expert of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said on Wednesday.
Jita Singh, a Singapore citizen said even though India was home to per cent of the world population, the country's performance in the international event was not upto the expectation.
The key to success was grassroots training. Manipur and New Delhi had been selected as the two key places to train budding stars to fulfill the nation’s dream of participating in the World Cup, Jita said.
"The new breed of young talents now being groomed up will get an opportunity to compete in the international arena and when Indian players start playing in European clubs we can expect good results and start expecting success," he said.
Some of the African nations that qualify for World Cup did not have proper clubs and infrastructures, but their players play in European clubs, he said.
"If the new venture is successful we can expect our young players to play in European clubs and when more players play at Europe we have better chances of attaining greater heights in football," he said.

{{/usCountry}}This time Australia was successful as many of their players were playing at Europe, he said. "Singapore has now three players in Europe he further said. We can not expect results just like that, we have to wait and keep fighting," he said.
