Expressing outrage over the killing of two Indian construction workers in Afghanistan by suspected Taliban, India on Saturday said it would never succumb to the threats by the Islamist militia and measures would be taken to protect Indians working in that country.
"We will take necessary measures to safeguard security of Indians working in Afghanistan," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee told reporters in Baharampore.
Mukherjee said the five persons injured in the attack would be brought back to India for treatment.
"Despite the Taliban attack, India will remain firm on its stand and not succumb to the pressures of the militia," Mukherjee asserted.
Suspected Taliban militants on Saturday killed two personnel of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and injured five in a suicide attack near Minar area in Nimroz province.
Referring to CPIM)'s agitation against Congress for rise in essential commodities, Mukherjee said the blame was unjusitified as Congress had put in place the PDS system across the country and the Marxists were responsible for its "collapse" in West Bengal.
