INDIAN AIRLINES will play against Punjab Electricity Supply Board (PESB) in the semifinal of the 31st Udai-Iftekhar Cricket Tournament at Bab-e-Aali Stadium on Friday. In the last quarterfinal match of the tournament played today, the star-studded Indian Airlines convincingly defeated LBS Delhi by eight wickets.
With players like Ratinder Singh Sodhi, Vijay Dahiya, Doda Ganesh and Gagandeep Singh, Indian Airlines registered a trouble-free eight-wicket win against Delhi. Sachin Rana was declared ‘HT Man of the Match’. Batting first after winning the toss, LBS team witnessed worst performance of the tournament. The team that won their league matches without any resistance failed in every department of the game.
The lethal bowling attack by pace bowler Sachin Rana never allowed any batsmen to easily score runs. He claimed five wickets by conceding 41 runs in eight overs. Seven batsmen of Delhi even failed to touch the double figure. The highest scorer was Harpreet Singh who scored 23 runs. Sodhi scalped two wickets.
Delhi team was all out for 99, the lowest total by any team batting first in the tournament. Chasing the target, MS Bisla and Sodhi stitched 86-run partnership. Sodhi scored a quick fire 53, including two sixes and eight boundaries. Indian Airlines won the match by eight wickets.
