INDIAN WOMEN basketball team won in level two at the recently concluded 18th Junior Women Basketball Championship held at Bangkok.

Indian eves in their first match beat Malaysia in a thrilling encounter. They won in extra time by 71-67. In the second match, India beat Hong Kong by 84-78 and in the third one-sided match against Sri Lank, Indian eves won by 92-59. They beat Kazakhstan by 76-70 in the fourth match and routed Vietnam by 103-63 to enter the final.

In the final match, Indian eves beat Thailand by 77-6 to win the level two trophy and qualified for Upper Pool.

Kiranjeet Kaur, who played brilliantly in all the matches and helped her team win the trophy, has been awarded the best player of the tournament.

The Indian team that brought laurels to the country comprised of Kiranjeet Kaur, Harminder Kaur, Akansha Singh, Rasprit Kaur, Pratima Singh, Harjeet Kaur, Akanksha Singh (Chhattigarh), Pushpa M, Kritika L, Balwinder Kaur, Prerana Chouhan and Reshma G. Rajesh Patel and Zarina Zaidi were the coach and assistant coach of the team.

The Indian team had rigorous training at the camp at Basketball Complex. The corporation of basketball trust had provided all the facilities for the players that were a booster for training period and paid dividend by grabbing the level two trophy.
