Chirag Bari, 27, onboard the German based ship hijacked from the Gulf of Aden on May 8 on Saturday called up his parents in Modinagar, 30 kms from Gaziabad, and said that their food stocks will last for only four days.

"My son fears for his life as 25 pirates are covering the ship with guns and other weapons," said Chirag's father Pradeep Bari.

"Chirag is also disturbed as drinking water and food materials will last for only four days," the distraught father said.

Out of 19 crew members, 16 are Indian, one Ukrainian and two belong to Bangladesh.

Pradeep Bari said the family members of the Indian crew have sent a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking help for their safe release.
