An Indian woman has been sentenced to four years in prison by Malaysian authorities on charges of killing her compatriot.
S Selvi, 37, was convicted by the Shah Alam High Court and sentenced to four years in jail for causing the death of G Rajam, 40, in Kampung Lindungan Sungei near here on November 3, 2003.
A quarrel broke out between Rajam and Selvi after the former demanded the money she owed to him.
Her refusal to pay up led to an argument during which the two attacked each other with knives leading to Rajam's death, a media report said.
Selvi was originally charged under section 302 of the Malaysian penal code, which provides for death sentence but later it was amended to section 304(a), according to which the guilty can be given life imprisonment, the Bernama news agency quoted facts presented by Deputy Public Prosecutor.
