As expected the final match between Bilaspur and Indian Navy was a close one. Once again Yashpal Singh proved his ability by slamming a splendid century at a time his team was in great need of runs.

After winning the toss, Indian Nay opted to bat first. But the decision proved wrong when three top batsmen were shown the way to the pavilion with just 23 on the scoreboard.

At this time the hero of the team Yashpal Singh brought the team back into the match by smashing a brilliant 114. Jasvir Singh provided good support to him at the other end and scored 47 runs.

Helped by Yashpal Singh’s ton the Indian Navy set a target of 248 for Bilaspur team. JP Yadav claimed highest five wickets for Bilaspur. Chasing the target, Bilaspur scored runs at the asking run rate but continued to lose the wickets at regular interval.

As the wickets continued to fall Bilaspur batsmen remained under pressure and failed to reach the required target and the team was bundled out for 225.

On this occasion, Hindustan Times General Manager Fehmi Hussain, BDCA chairman Dhruv Narayan Singh, BDCA vice president Aruneshwar Singh Deo, BDCA secretary Dr Shafquat Mohammad Khan, organising secretary Sushil Singh and others were present.

HT Man of the Series: Yashpal Singh
