Indian-origin Australian cricketer Gurinder Sandhu has said that he is planning to put in good performances and keep his spot in the team and has dismissed talk of the so-called second-year syndrome as a concern.
The New South Wales (NSW) fast bowler stunned the cricket world when he was named as the Steve Waugh medallist, the best NSW cricketer in his rookie season.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Sandhu, who had edged out test players Brad Haddin and Trent Copeland for the prestigious medal despite being less experienced, accepted that he was in for a tougher summer now that opposing batsmen have become aware of what he is capable of.
According to Sandhu, he is hoping to prove that the second-year syndrome means nothing to him by getting momentum and helping the NSW team hold up one or two trophies at the end of the year, adding that he was confident the Waugh medal would not become a burden and keep him from being consistent.
