Run by Delhi-based Old World Hospitality of Rohit Khattar, Tamarai, which means Lotus, was presented the award yesterday at a glittering ceremony at Battersea, London, attended by 600 of the top names of the hospitality industry.

Emerging as London's best and then going on to beat the winners from all parts of the UK is a high accolade for the Indian bar, which is known for its original concept and design.

The Theme Award, considered UK's leading industry award, is in recognition of the best in the industry bringing together excellence in modern drinks, design and hospitality in different categories.

In its seventh year, the national finals included regional finalists competing for the title of the best in the country.

Tamarai is Old World Hospitality's third London venue after Chor Bizarre, Mayfair and Sitaaray, an authentic North Indian Grill located above Tamarai.

The company also operates Habitat World at India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, Epicentre Gurgaon, The Manor and Broadway besides 12 restaurants in New Delhi.

Called the 'Best Pan Fusion food in London' by Evening Standard, the restaurant was awarded 'The Best Wine List in London' at the Food Oscars by The Independent last year.
