An Indian worker in Dubai was stabbed to death by an Indian colleague after a dispute early this week.

Rajannah, 34, had returned to his residence after work on Tuesday afternoon when he had a heated dispute with Kumar, who also worked in the same company.

The cause of the dispute is not known, according to a report in the Khaleej Times newspaper.

Later, after Rajannah went off to sleep, Kumar stabbed him. Kumar then inflicted an injury on himself and tried to run away.

But he fell unconscious and was later arrested by the police.

Police tried to airlift Rajannah to a hospital but he died on board the aircraft.

Both the workers were employed with Emirates Riber in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZ) in the emirate of Dubai.

Rajannah, who hailed from Andhra Pradesh, leaves behind his widow and two children.

Kumar hails from Madurai in the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu and was working as a labourer in the company.
