An Indian Trade Fair in Guyana, which is drawing overwhelming response from businessmen and the public, will move to the town of Berbice from the capital this weekend.
According to a report in the Guyana Chronicle newspaper, the Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce (CCCC) has transformed the Albion Sports Complex in Berbice into a state of readiness for hosting the fair.
The trade exposition has been organised by the Indo-Global Chamber of Commerce, the Indian high commission in Georgetown and Guyana's ministry of tourism, industry and commerce.
The show will feature displays by some 40 companies from India that have brought a wide variety of furniture, household items and other manufactured products, the report said.
The fair, which was at the Sophia Exhibition Centre in Georgetown March 9-22, drew overwhelming response from the Guyanese public.
People of Indian origin comprise around 50 per cent of the Caribbean nation's population of over 765,000.
The Albion showing will continue through March 29 after the formal opening on Sunday at which Anamayah, Guyana's minister of tourism, industry and commerce, Indian high commissioner Manzoor Nadir and a representative of Indo-Global are also billed to speak.
Anamayah said the event would present Berbice businessmen with an opportunity to make mutually beneficial contacts.
