The four teenagers, including a Sri Lankan, have been charged with smashing 50 cars, including the company car of an Indian, in the Adilya area of the city.

The incident took place at around 4:30 am on Tuesday, reported the Gulf Daily News. The police caught the youths red-handed.

The Indian, whose company car was smashed, discovered the damage when the police knocked on his apartment door and asked him whether any of the damaged cars belonged to him.

"I went downstairs with the police officer and I saw that my car was completely damaged - the mirrors, lights and windows were smashed and apparently the boys jumped on the roof and brought it down," he told the newspaper, adding that the youths might have been drunk.

The Indian's company, however, later dropped the charges against the youths following fervent pleas from the youths' parents.

Details were not available as to what the owners of the other damaged cars planned to do.
