Thirty Indian workers, working for a construction company in Bahrain, have lodged a complaint with the Indian embassy there, alleging that their employer had been consistently delaying payment of their salaries.
The workers -- labourers as well as some administrative staff -- at the company in Zinj, a suburb of Bahrain's capital Manama, had staged a two-day strike in protest against the late payment of their April salaries.
They are expected to join their duties on Thursday.
According to a report in the Gulf Daily News newspaper, last month too the employees had staged a weeklong strike following which their employer agreed to release salaries -- ranging from Bahraini dinars (BD) 50 to 75 -- for three months, four months after the first payment was due.
The workers have also alleged that they have not been able to visit their homes in India as they were provided with only plane tickets and no leave salaries.
According to the newspaper report, there was no comment from the Indian embassy.
