Mufti also interacted with the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the SAARC heads of the states.

He stressed the need for strengthening the regional cooperation, especially in the sub-continent, with Jammu and Kashmir becoming a hub of inter-regional trade and economic activity.
He also emphasised the need for making people to people contract more frequent and less hassle-free and starting border trading activity between two parts on Jammu and Kashmir so that people could also reap benefits of the economic liberalization .

Sayeed said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir must become stake-holders in the peace process through their active involvement in the economic activities in the region as they have unfortunately failed to keep pace with the rest of the world due to more than decade long turmoil in the state.
