The meeting in the form of a workshop was held between January 9 and 12 in the city.

The on-going cooperation in various areas, including high energy nuclear physics and regulatory agencies of the two countries, was endorsed by the workshop, DAE spokesperson Dr SK Malhotra said.

The 18-member US delegation was led by the Acting Director of office of Nuclear Energy Science and Technology of the US Department of Energy, R Shane Johnson. The 12-member Indian delegation was led by Dr RB Grover, Director, Strategic Planning Group of DAE.

The Indo-US group also visited the Tarapur Atomic Power Station Units 3 and 4 of 500MW each and "this was an exercise undertaken by DAE to show India's latest indigenous capability," Malhotra said.

The US delegation has offered to hold a similar workshop in their country in the later part of this year, Malhotra said.
