INDORE CORPORATION girls and Ratlam district boys won the inaugural Dr J M Sharma memorial state level basketball tournaments for under-10 boys and girls on Monday. The tournament was organised by Corporation Basketball Association at Nehru Stadium.
Hosts Indore Corporation beat DCC Indore by 24-4 in the final to win the title. The host team took grip on the match in the half time itself as they were leading comfortably by 18-2. However, the host team failed to score freely in the second half. Indore Corporation team managed to score just six points.
Indore Corporation skipper Pooja Ladda played brilliantly and scored 10 points to help her team win the tournament. The boys’ final was played between Ratlam district and DCC Indore. It was also a one-sided affair. Ratlam boys beat DCC Indore by 26-14 to grab the title.
In the half time, Ratlam district team was in total command as they were leading by 13-3. In the second half, Indore boys tried to come back in the game but due to solid defense from Ratlam, Indore players could not take advantage and lost the match by 14-26.
Former national player Sudha Rathi was the chief guest and distributed the prizes to the winners. Association secretary B Dr J M Sharma presented a memento to the chief guest.
