The meeting was in continuation to the present dispute between Bhopal Municipal Corporation and Govindpura Industrial Area over payment of property tax. After giving a patient hearing to the delegation, Gaur instructed departmental officials to collect data related to property tax charged by other states and take steps to resolve the deadlock.

Handing over a memorandum, the delegation informed the minister that the BMC without prior intimation, initiated seizure action. Members of the delegation also said that over the last few years, the rate of property tax had exorbitantly been hiked. They urged Gaur not to initiate any action, until the issue gets resolved.

The delegation also met Urban Development Minister Jayant Malaiya and apprised him with the situation, who in turn assured cooperation.

Later, speaking to Hindustan Times, general secretary, Industries Association, Govindpura, Mukesh Sachdeva said the meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere and it is expected that problems would get solved with Gaur’s efforts. “We always solved problems through negotiations and expect the same this time too,” he added.
