INFIGHTING BETWEEN two factions of the MP Class III Government Employees’ Association has come to the fore. While the faction headed by former State president Mahendra Sharma claims the association belongs to it, the other faction led by senior employee leader Ganesh Dutt Joshi has appointed Arun Dwivedi as new State president.
Its argument is that the old body was dissolved following the retirement of its president Mahendra Sharma on March 31. Addressing a joint press conference Joshi and Arun Dwivedi today alleged the MP Class III Government Employees’ Association was virtually paralysed during Sharma’s tenure as he had not conducted any elections.
“Neither district-level bodies nor departmental committees of the association had any elections in the last couple of years,” alleged Joshi. Nominated office-bearers were running the entire organisation.
As the entire body and district level units stand dissolved with Sharma’s retirement, the new president will conduct elections for district level units in next six months, said Joshi.
Referring to the State Government’s guidelines, Dwivedi said it was clearly mentioned that ‘only those governed by MP Civil Services Conduct Rules 1965 would remain members of any employee associations’.
“Our association belongs to working employees not for those who have retired,” he added. The leaders duo expressed surprise over the proposal sent by Sharma to the Registrar for amending the constitution of the association and becoming patron of the same.

{{/usCountry}}This proposal was rejected by the Registrar on the grounds that it was against the basic principles of the association, they claimed, adding that instead of sending the proposal Sharma should have handed over the reins of the association to senior vice president.
They also demanded Registrar impose a ban on ongoing financial transactions from association’s bank accounts. Joshi and Dwivedi clarified that efforts were on to solve the matter amicably and some rounds of meetings had already been held between both factions.
