The militants were killed in a fierce gunbattle near Eagle post in northern Tangdhar sector, 140 km from Srinagar, the spokesman said.

Armymen were keeping a watch in the area after noticing movement of militants.

The militants were asked to surrender, but they opened fire, he said. The identity and group affiliation of the militants were yet to be established.
