A former principal consultant with Infosys, Jack Palmer, who had alleged IT giant of visa fraud, testified before a US Congress sub-committee on Tuesday.
Palmer had filed a suit against Infosys in February this year alleging that the company sent Indian workers to the US to work full time in violation of American immigration law as a profit-making strategy.
Palmer told the panel that Infosys and its clients, including Walmart Inc, hosted on
their work sites as B-1 visa holders who were working as full-time Infosys employees, which is in violation of US immigration law.
Paul N Gottsegen, chief marketing officer, Infosys said, “The commentary submitted by Jack Palmer to the senate judiciary subcommittee is full of inaccuracies, exaggerations and falsehoods.”
He said, “Palmer is obviously intent on spreading his falsehoods about Infosys and our business practices as broadly as possible in order to advance his objective of getting as big of a payout as he can from the company.”
Infosys spokesperson also added that there is not, nor was there ever a strategy, scheme, or policy by the company to use the B-1 visa programme to circumvent the H-1B visa programme.
“The company does not have a practice of sending unskilled employees to the US on B-1 visas to do the work expected of skilled individuals in the US on H-1B visas,” the spokesperson said in an e-mailed resposnse.
