Inmates attack cops inside Bhondsi prison

Three inmates of the Bhondsi prison on Saturday assaulted two policemen -- Jai Bhagwan, assistant sub-inspector, and Babu Lal, a constable. The incident took place when the policemen were frisking the inmates before the latter were being taken to a Rewari court for hearing in a case.

According to jail officials, the policemen were injured in the fight. The inmates -- Pradeep, 22, Manan, 24, and Karan, 25 -- have been lodged in the jail after they were arrested in a robbery case.

Although it is a usual practice to frisk prisoners when they are taken in and out, the three men objected to it. Rajveer Singh, inspector, said, "A case has been registered against them and soon we would take them into custody."
