A comprehensive strategy is being chalked out for the security of the political stalwarts including Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, BJP president, Rajnath Singh, Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister, Mulayam Singh Yadav, who may visit the area.

Deputy inspector general of police (DIG) for Varanasi range, Rajendra Pal Singh told HT, “No suspicious person would be allowed to near the dais of the VVIPs from where they will address public meetings. All the necessary security arrangements would be done to ensure their safety including adequate barricading,” he said adding that emphasis would be laid on excess control for the security of prominent politicians.

Speaking over his departmental security preparations during the sixth phase of election in his range, he informed that a total of 350 companies of central para military force would be deployed in Varanasi range. Apart from Varanasi this includes Ghazipur, Chandauli and Jaunpur.

The break up of deployment of CPMF for these districts, include, Varanasi (81 companies), Jaunpur (109), Ghazipur (85) and Chandauli (65). The central force would start coming to the Varanasi range from April 29 to look after the security arrangement.

It may be noted that Mukhtar Ansari and Afzal Ansari were accused of the murder of BJPs MLA, Krishnanand Rai and six others. The MLA had been shot dead in Mohammadabad area on November 29, 2005.

Recently Alka Rai, a BJP MLA from Mohammadabad assembly segment and widow of slain MLA and former president of BJP, Venkaiah Naidu had urged the administration to shift Ansari brothers from Ghazipur jail to some other jail in the State to ensure free and fair poll in the district.
