Police officials on Wednesday nabbed an inter-state gang of vehicle-thieves, who posed as press reporters, from Link-Road area near Vaishali and recovered 10 luxury cars and 27 motorbikes from their possession.

The five accused, all in their early twenties, ran a racket of lifting cars and bikes from Delhi and Noida and sold them to various customers in Ghaziabad and adjoining districts with the help of fake certificates which they prepared using a computer-setup found at their hideout.

Police also recovered press cards from their possession and managed to recover 10 luxury-cars, including Bolero, Tata Safari, Maruti Esteem, from different locations.

“These vehicles were recovered from parking areas of different railway stations and malls. They had also hired a garage at site-IV Industrial Area and hid the vehicles there. We recovered all the vehicles at their instance,” senior superintendent of police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said.
