Despite the one-day series loss to arch-rivals India, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday kept faith in Inzamam-ul-Haq and retained him captain for the remaining half of the year.

The decision in which Younis Khan was also retained as vice-captain was taken at a board meeting held in Karachi.

The extension means Inzamam will be incharge of the Pakistan team for the forthcoming tours of Sri Lanka, England and India (for the ICC Champions Trophy), and for the home series against Zimbabwe and West Indies.

The announcement would be a bitter blow to Inzamam's critics who had been blaming the champion batsman for the team's defeat against India in the one-day series.

Some of them had demanded Inzamam's removal while some had proposed the appointment of Younis Khan as captain in the shorter version of the game.

"Naturally it is pleasing and satisfying when the establishment expresses confidence in you. I am happy with the extension and would continue my endeavor to transform this young and talented side into world beaters," Inzamam told.
