Team manager Muhammed Ahmed said Malik left for his hometown Sialkot to be with his ailing father, while Inzamam's recurring back problem would not allow him to field during India's innings.

"Malik will not be available for this match any more as he left for home Sunday evening to be with his ailing father, who is suffering from Hepatitis C and also has prostate cancer," Ahmed said on Monday.

On Inzamam, who scored his 25th century on the second day of the Test Sunday, he said: "Inzamam will not be fielding in this match due to a back problem."

Inzamam, who has been advised six days' rest, did not take the field on Sunday when India began its reply to Pakistani first innings' 588, and vice-captain Younis Khan led the team in his absence.

The manager, however, said Inzamam was likely to play in the third and final Test beginning in Karachi Jan 29 - exactly seven days from now.
