Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram fears that Inzamam-ul-Haq would be made the scapegoat and held guilty on Wednesday's International Cricket Council (ICC) hearing into the ball-tampering row.
He said in spite of lack of evidence, Inzy was likely to be nailed because of Pakistan's history of ball-tampering.
"They will fine or ban Inzamam-ul-Haq. Pakistan is being accused because we were giving a master-class in ball tampering and for 15 years nobody knew what we were doing," Akram was reported as saying by Daily Mirror on Monday.
The former Pakistani great said under-fire Australian umpire Darrell Hair was likely to escape censure as "ICC cannot do anything on umpires."
"The ICC can't do anything to the umpires. If they do, teams will try it on saying: 'We're not happy, change the umpire'," Akram said.
Inzamam is charged with interfering with the condition of the ball and bringing the game into disrepute in the fourth Test against England at The Oval when umpires slapped Pakistan five runs and the visitors forfeited the game after refusing to resume play in the post tea session on the fourth day.
