I think the biggest realisation from World Twenty20 has been the fact that any team can beat any team in this format. It is about one player taking it upon himself to deliver on any given day.
Teams with good quick bowlers have done well in the competition. You have got to strike with these pacemen in those first four overs. Spin continued to be a force in the competition, but not every team had the quality of a Murali, Mendis or Harbhajan.
Scores of around 160-180 are generally considered to be safe bets but the powers that be should realise that even scores of 140 can make for interesting encounters. They should make every possible effort to protect the bowlers lest it becomes a sixes-hitting contest.
People have asked me a lot about playing in the IPL. There have been quite a few learning experiences not just for me but for everybody who was part of the IPL. The teams had a realisation on what to do this time because of the IPL. Teams could plan their campaigns better because of the IPL.
