Association secretary and DIG Lucknow Subhash Chandra said that the resolution passed at the general body meeting would be sent to principal secretary to the Chief Minister, chief secretary, principal secretary (home) and the DGP. Around 20 IPS officers spoke on the issue.

The officers felt that Ferozabad incident had sent a wrong message to the people. The speakers said that it was not an attack on the SP Ferozabad but an assault on the system itself.

“What is left after this?,” questioned an IG. The officers noted with concern that of late, there had been a sharp decline in relationship between police officers and politicians. The officers said that there was an urgent need to find solution to this problem. The resolution has sought an impartial and quick probe into the matter so that action could be taken against the accused.

Ruling Samajwadi Party MLA from Jasrana Ramvir Singh Yadav and his supporters beat up the SP and some other officers in Paidath village in Ferozabad on July 27.

The association has also asked the Government to speed up the process of sending annual confidential reports (ACRs) to the Centre for officers’ empanelment and postings. The association said that there had been an inordinate delay on the part of the State Government in this connection. The general body also approved nomination of ADG Shailendra Sagar, SP Anil Mishra, SSP Dr GK Goswami and ASP Sunil to the executive committee.
