EXPRESSING CONCERN over the pathetic condition of Vantangnia farmers settled on the forest land in Gorakhpur, Maharajganj and other districts, coordinator of non-government organisation Vikalp, Krishna Mohan said here that a Jan Adalat would be organised in Gorakhpur on September 18 by the Indian People’s Tribunals (IPT) which would handover a detailed report to the government regarding the problems faced by the Vantangnia farmers.

Talking to mediapersons, Krishna Mohan said social activist Sunder Lal Bahuguna, former justice of Allahabad High Court Ram Bhushan Malhotra and coordinator of People’s Forum Prof RK Mani Tripathi would take part in the hearing.
He claimed that 30,000 population of around 4515 Vantangnia families in eastern UP were struggling for their survival and successive government had failed to provide basic facilities to them. Krishna Mohan said the members of Vantangnia families had no caste certificates, grain cards or any other facility provided by the government.
He claimed that Vikalp was working for the uplift of Vantangnias for the last 15 years but political parties were not taking any initiative to improve their lot. He demanded that villages where Vantangnias had settled down, should be provided the status of revenue villages.
