Iran said on Monday that it has allocated more than $200 million for construction of two nuclear power plants.

Iranian Vice President Farhad Rahbar said that money for the two new nuclear power plants had been allocated in the budget for the next financial year that starts in Iran from March 21.

Rahbar, who also heads the Management and Planning Organisation, gave no further details on the two plants.
Gholam-Reza Aqazadeh, the head of the Atomic Energy Organisation, had said last December that Iran planned to build, without foreign assistance, a nuclear reactor in Darkohovayn in southwestern Khuzestan province.
The reactor is scheduled to become operational within seven years.
