ISWAR SARAN Degree College students took out a silent procession even as the fast by union president Vishal Shukla entered 58th day on Tuesday in support of their 17-point charter of demands. The students were demanding CBI inquiry into irregularities and corruption in the college.
The procession, led by union vice-president Ashutosh Tripathi, passed through the science and commerce faculties before returning back to the student’s union hall where a meeting was held. Addressing the students, Shukla said external elements intruded in college affairs and misbehaved with girl students. He said the academic atmosphere of the college was being disturbed by these elements who were supported by the college authorities. The college administration had failed to check such activities despite repeated complaints by the students, he claimed.
Those present on the occasion included Durgesh Chandra Shukla, Adesh Shukla, Dheeraj Tripathi and Krishna Kumar Tripathi, etc.
Condolence meet
A meeting was held Hamidia Girls Inter College, to condole the sad demise of AA Khan at 11.30 am on September 6. Rasheeda Khan, a close relative Khan and president of the college managing committee, threw light on his contributions towards girls education.
Sadiq Husain, manager of the college, elucidated the services given by AA Khan for the development of Hamidia Girls Primary School established by Begum Khursheed Khawaja in 1932. He raised it to intermediate and degree college level. Principal and members of the staff of the college held ‘Qurankhwani’ to pay homage to the departed soul.

M/S Orient Longman Pvt Limited, Lucknow, is organising a book exhibition on the first floor of the AU Central Library from September 13 to 15. Faculty members are invited to visit the book exhibition and select the publications for the central library. Vice-chancellor Prof Rajen Harshe will inaugurate the exhibition on Wednesday at 10.30 am, according to AU CPIO Prof Amrendra Kumar Singh.
