The CBI may interrogate former Gujarat junior home minister Amit Shah for the second time in less than seven days in the case concerning the killing of Mumbra girl Ishrat Jahan and three others.
Shah was grilled for more than four hours at the agency’s headquarters last Saturday.
The CBI is in the process of filing a supplementary chargesheet, which will focus on the conspiracy that led to the staged killing of the four persons in a joint operation conducted by the Gujarat police in connivance with senior officials of the Intelligence Bureau.
Sources in the agency said Shah might be called in for grilling before the supplementary chargesheet is filed.
A senior CBI official said: “The probe will be concluded by the end of this month and only then will we be in a position to decide whether the agency will chargesheet him (Shah) or not. We are ascertaining his role to see if there was any criminality involved.”

The agency is scrutinising details of telephone calls between suspended Indian Police Service officer DG Vanzara, who is among the seven policemen chargesheeted in the case in July by the CBI, and a senior member of the Gujarat government in the hours before and after the June 2004 encounter, in which the four were killed.
