Top contenders Gaurav Ghei, Ashok Kumar and Shamim Khan kept their hopes alive by moving to the pre-quarter finals.

While Ghei eased past Vikrant Chopra 4 & 3, Ashok defeated Ranjit Singh Rathore 3 & 2. Shamim beat Toran Bikram Shahi 2 & 1.

In the closest match of the day, Randhir Singh Ghotra triumphed over Sanjay Kumar at the 22nd hole.

R Srinivas prevailed over Shaurya Singh, the giant-killer from round one, at the 19th hole.
