Israel’s shoot-first policy must be condemned
The storming of the Gaza ships by Israeli commandos and the resulting killing of around 10 innocents is unfortunate. The attack calls for severe condemnation by world leaders. It is a sheer violation of the human rights. The ships were in no way a threat to the Israelis for they were ferrying relief material to Palestinians in the Gaza strip. The international community must take action against Israel and prevent such heinous acts from recurring.

Not picture perfect at all I am an avid reader of Hindustan Times and, thus, feel the need to bring to your attention that the picture accompanying the story on model/actor Sherlyn Chopra’s rejection of an offer from Playboy in the May 28 edition of the magazine section was in bad taste. It is disappointing that your esteemed national daily is seeking cheap publicity.

A case of clout
The recent judgement of the Allahabad High Court absolving politicians like L.K, Advani, Uma Bharati and Kalyan Singh in the 1992 Babri masjid demolition case is surprising. It seems that their political clout has come to their rescue. The judgement is bound to have a serious political fallout.
