VICE-CHANCELLOR OF the Chitrakoot University Dr GN Pandey said here on Sunday that information technology could be used as knowledge bank.
He was speaking at the concluding day of two-day seminar on ‘Sensor networks and application’ organised by JK Institute of Applied Physics and Technology (JKIAPT) Allahabad University (AU) in association with The Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), Allahabad Centre.
Dr Pandey, who was the main speaker at the concluding technical session, said the sensor network should be taken as an important resource for different fields including energy conservation, man made and natural hazards, for preventive health, and many others.
He said that educational institutes, industry and different research laboratories like CSIR should come together to develop sensors and use them to find the solution of local and wider area problems.
The two-day seminar had guest lectures and presentation of papers by eminent research scholars and academicians from across the country during the technical sessions. Dr Chiranjeev Kumar from ISM Dhanbad was the guest speaker during the first session on Saturday, while Dr US Tiwary of IIIT-A, Dr Shirshu Varma of IET, Alwar and Rakesh Sharma presented paper on ‘Sensor Node Deployment for Coverage Enhancement Using Virtual Force Algorithm’.
Anand Singh, IET-Alwar, presented paper on ‘Information Transmission Through Sensor Cluster Heads Using SMP’, Prof S Tiwari and DK Kothari of MNIT Allahabad presented paper on ‘Current Trends In Optical WDM Networks’ while Dr MG Sharma and Anurag Srivastava from Indore presented paper on ‘A Low-Power Viterbi Decoder Design For Wireless Communication Applications’.

Technical session-IV on Sunday was a tutorial session on ‘Wireless Sensor Networks: Real World Application Perspective’ by L Chaithanya and N Jaya Lakshmi of MNIT Allahabad.
Prof US Tiwary, who was the convenor of the seminar, urged the institutions and industries to promote young engineers to work in the projects and should work in collaboration by working simultaneously on different aspects of a project to accomplish the project in short period.
