"Broader issue which concerns us..Affects the growth of the industry are education and infrstructure," NASSCOM President Kiran Karnik said on IT industry's budget expectations.

"Both these areas, we would like to see the budget doing something proactive and substantial," he told reporters on the sidelines of the second Sino-India Software Industry Cooperation Summit.

He said though there were resource constraints, the industry was looking for a "big increase" in budget allocation for the education sector, and also hoped that the Government would allow more private investment in this sector.

On infrastructure space, Government needed to look at ways to see how it could be revamped in urban areas and also in terms of speed in completing the works and projects. In this context, the Government needed to bring in the expertise and ability of the private sector, Karnik said.
