Raising the issue, BJP member Sushma Swaraj said the action was "height of insensitivity" on the part of the authorities and asked the government to withdraw the notice immediately.

Any parent whose children are kidnapped would go to any extent to raise the money, she said.

Samajwadi Party members, led by Amar Singh, also said the notice should be withdrawn.

Through another special mention, Shantaram Laxman Naik (Cong) wanted to know from the Home Minister Shivraj Patil what was the nature of the advisory given by the Israeli government to its citizens not to visit Goa.
