Delhi is going all out to do its bit to celebrate the World Environment Day. The American Center started its celebrations yesterday, with a two-day festival titled Yamunotsav. The event, organised in association with NGOs Swechha
and Oxfam, focuses on educating people about environment protection.

Today, the Centre is holding a Climate Solutions Mela followed by a concert featuring Bobby Cash and a jam session with music biggies Piyush Mishra, Rahul Ram and Swanand Kirkire at the India Habitat Centre, at 7 pm. At around the same time in IHC, The Indian Council for Human Relations is conducting a seminar on ‘Denudation of the Aravalis and the subsequent desertification of Delhi and NCR’.

The ITC Maurya, too, has planned two activity sessions. In the morning, about 70 ITC staffers will walk on the ridge planting 1,000 saplings along the route. Said N. Ramamoorthy, chief engineer, ITC Maurya, “We have a water treatment plant at the hotel, from where recycled water is circulated for use through the hotel. Even after doing so, we were being left with almost 1 lakh litres of water which will now be shared with NDMC. The water will be used to irrigate various NDMC parks in the city.”
