Film industry sources said Abhishek had popped the question to Aishwarya on Sunday. In the evening, there was a Bachchan-Rai family dinner.

For the last three months, there has been much conjecture about the possibility of a marriage between the two, who have co-starred in four films, including the just-released Guru.

The wedding date is expected to be announced soon. So far, the 31-year-old actor has not committed himself to any date before the media.
