IT workers union could aid Satyam staff

Satyam Computer Services could well pin its hopes on an unlikely ally—UNITES, a union representing employees in the IT and ITES sector—to tide over the crisis and keep its worldwide operations intact.

The rider, however, would be that none of its employees is issued a pink slip in the aftermath of the Rs 7,000-crore scam disclosed by founder-chairman Ramalinga Raju.

In another instance, expressing solidarity with the Satyam’s new management team, IT industry body Nasscom (The National Association of Software and Services Companies) has asked its recruitment team not to poach anybody from Satyam. For Nasscom, the priority now is to see that business continues for Satyam, an official said.
