Faced with difficulty in paying a hefty USD 1 lakh as the third instalment of fine to its international body, Indian Weightlifting Federation has asked the Indian Olympic Association to bail it out so that the country's lifters can take part in the Commonwealth Games.
IWF Secretary Sahdev Yadav told PTI that the national body would ask the IOA for an interest free loan so that it can pay the third instalment of USD 5 lakh total fine to the International Weightlifting Federation by the deadline of July
15.
"We are going to ask the IOA to give us an interest free loan to pay the USD 1 lakh by July 15," Yadav said.
Yadav said IWF President Birendra Prasad Yadav will meet the IOA officials for the loan in a day or two.
"The president will be in Delhi tomorrow and he will meet the IOA officials in a day or two. We are hoping that the IOA will grant us the loan," he said.

IWF paid the first instalment of USD 50,000 in January before the South Asian Games in Bangladesh and the second instalment of 75,000 before April 4 deadline which allowed the
lifters to take part in the Asian Youth and Junior Championships at Tashkent from April 7-16.
The third instalment of USD 1 lakh will have to be paid by July 15, while August 15 is the deadline for the fourth and final instalment of USD 2,75,000.
