Justice (rtd) Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain was also administered the oath as a member of the Commission by governor N N Vohra on Sunday.

Justice (retired) Nargotra was appointed chairperson of the Commission for a period of three years earlier this month.

The State Accountability Commission is empowered to look into complaints against public figures including ministers and the chief minister. The Act is a state equivalent of a lokpal.

Speaking at the oath-taking ceremony, Vohra emphasised the need for an early appointment of the second member of the Accountability Commission. Chief minister Omar Abdullah, deputy chief minister Tara Chand and Assembly speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone attended the ceremony.
