Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have used mobile jammers at examination centres for Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test (JKCET) for admission to medical and engineering colleges.

The examinations were held on Saturday. Over 30,000 aspirants appeared at examinations this year. In order to curb the use of mobile phones for cheating during the exams, authourities used mobile phone jammers at all the examination centres.

"Jammers have been used after reports of the use of mobile phones and bluetooth technology were detected in many states across the country," said Fayaz Ahmed Bhat, cordinator JKPOPEE.

The exams in the state are being conducted under a shadow after the floods last year due to which all exams for 12th Class were delayed.
The JKCET has already been under scanner in the state after police unearthed a scandal in which test papers were sold to many candidates. The former head of the Board of Professional Examinations, Mushtaq Ahmed Peer, was arrested by police in this regard.

While investigations in the case are still on, 20 medical students who had purchased papers were suspended from college and later arrested by police.
